Frequently asked questions
1. Who is IC Recruiting and is it a licensed recruitment agency in Bulgaria?
IC Recruiting is a Sofia-based recruitment and workforce solutions company operating in Bulgaria since 2009. With 17 years of experience in the Bulgarian market, we work with Bulgarian and international employers recruiting professional, specialist and management talent in Sofia and across Bulgaria. IC Recruiting operates under Recruitment Registration Certificate No. 2087/22.07.2016.
2. Do candidates pay a recruitment agency fee to use IC Recruiting?
No. IC Recruiting's recruitment services are free for candidates. You do not pay us to apply for a vacancy, submit your CV, speak with a recruiter or take part in a recruitment process. Recruitment fees are paid by the employer when IC Recruiting is engaged to fill a position.
3. How can I find and apply for jobs in Sofia and across Bulgaria through IC Recruiting?
Browse our current job vacancies and apply directly for positions that match your experience, skills and language profile. IC Recruiting recruits for jobs in Sofia as well as selected opportunities elsewhere in Bulgaria and internationally. Each vacancy shows the location and role requirements before you apply.
4. Can I submit my CV to IC Recruiting if there is no suitable job vacancy?
Yes. You can submit your CV even when there is no current vacancy that matches your profile. This allows our recruitment team to consider your experience for relevant future opportunities. Before submitting, make sure your CV clearly shows your recent experience, skills, languages and the type of role you are looking for. For more guidance, see our CV Tips page.
5. What happens after I submit my CV or apply for a job through IC Recruiting?
Our recruiters review your application against the requirements of the vacancy. If your profile could be a match, we may contact you by phone or email to discuss your experience, salary expectations, availability and the position in more detail. Suitable candidates can then progress to interviews with IC Recruiting and/or the employer. If one role is not suitable, you can still apply for other relevant vacancies.
6. Will IC Recruiting share my CV or personal data with employers without my approval?
IC Recruiting does not publish your CV. When we are considering presenting you for a specific position, our recruiter will normally discuss the opportunity with you first. Candidate information is handled through our recruitment process and in accordance with our privacy notice and applicable data-protection requirements.
7. How long does the recruitment and interview process in Bulgaria usually take?
There is no fixed timeline. It depends on the employer, seniority of the position, number of interview stages, availability of decision-makers and complexity of the search. Some vacancies move quickly, while specialist and management recruitment can take longer. We aim to keep candidates informed when we receive meaningful updates from the employer.
8. What types of jobs and industries does IC Recruiting recruit for in Bulgaria?
IC Recruiting recruits for professional, specialist and management positions. Current and recent searches include IT and software, finance and accounting, sales, marketing, HR, administration, operations, legal, customer service, hospitality and management roles. The exact mix changes as new client assignments open.
9. Does IC Recruiting recruit for remote, hybrid and on-site jobs in Sofia and across Bulgaria?
Yes, depending on the employer and vacancy. IC Recruiting works on on-site, hybrid and selected remote positions. Many opportunities are based in Sofia, but we also recruit for positions elsewhere in Bulgaria. Always check the individual job description because location and remote-work policies are set by the employer.
10. Can foreign candidates and non-EU citizens apply for jobs in Bulgaria through IC Recruiting?
Yes, when the specific vacancy and employer can consider international applicants. EU/EEA candidates and non-EU candidates can have different right-to-work and residence requirements. For non-EU nationals, employment may require the Bulgarian employer to support the applicable work and residence procedure, so availability depends on the vacancy and employer. IC Recruiting cannot guarantee visa or work-permit sponsorship for every role.
11. Can I apply for English-speaking or multilingual jobs in Sofia if I do not speak Bulgarian?
Yes, for vacancies where Bulgarian is not a requirement. International employers in Sofia frequently recruit for roles requiring English or another foreign language, particularly in technology, finance, customer service, sales and international business functions. Language requirements vary by vacancy, so check the job description before applying.
12. How should I answer salary expectations in a job interview in Bulgaria?
Research the market for the role before the interview and decide on a realistic range rather than improvising one number. Be clear whether you are discussing gross or net monthly salary, because that distinction matters when comparing offers in Bulgaria. Consider the full package, including bonuses and benefits, and leave room to discuss the responsibilities and scope of the role.
